Britain’s top holiday destination for 2017? Britain!

Over the next few months, 55% of British adults intend on holidaying along the country’s coastal resorts, according to Traveldoge’s annual holiday index.

For their annual break, holidayers will on average spend a total of £599.80, leading to a boost in the economy of £17bn.

Property Investment in England: Focus North West

The Travelodge report surveyed 3,000 British adults since 2010 and shows that 2017 is another strong year for holidaying at home. Over half of those surveyed explained that they chose to have their vacation at home this year as going abroad is too expensive and Britain offers better value for money.

And additional 36% also stated that they decided to holiday at home this year because they wanted to support the country’s economy rather than spending their hard earned coin somewhere else.

Shakila Ahmed, Travelodge’s spokeswoman, explained the results:

“Our research shows that 2017 is set to be another strong year for the staycation, which is great news for our economy. The current weakness of the pound means more Britons are choosing a staycation this summer whilst foreign tourists are making the most of their strong currency and flocking to Great Britain.”

Around 53% of adults are intending to take a trip to the British seaside as their annual holiday fro 2017, making it once again the country’s most popular holiday destination.

One third said they were intending to go somewhere rural this summer with top destinations including the Lake District, Scottish Highlands, Norfolk Broads, Yorkshire Dales and Peak District.

Another third said they were planning to combine both, a coastal retreat and a rural retreat whilst travelling around the country for their break.
