Leeds named one of the best places to live

Leeds city centre made it on The Times Best Places to Live in the UK 2019 list for the north and north-east regions of England.

As Yorkshire’s economic powerhouse, Leeds continues to build on its business-friendly reputation and has become a digital and creative hub. Last year, Channel 4 announced Leeds beat out Manchester and Birmingham for the company’s new headquarterswhich will bring hundreds of jobs to the city.

Location and transportation

Being only a 2.5hour train journey from London’s King Cross and a 45-minute trip from Manchester, Leeds is well connected and has one of the busiest train stations in the country. Additionally, the proposals for the HS2 is expected to further improve the city’s connectivity.

In a plan called Connecting Leeds, the city council is aiming to double the number of bus journeys made on a daily basis in 10 years times. The proposals also seek to improve traffic flow, air quality, pedestrian crossings, and cycle lanes to further transform the city.

Leeds city centre

Bursting with culture, Leeds is walkable and home to some of the country’s most pleasing shopping centres. The Times even stated Leeds is Britain’s best big city centre.

The impressive city continues to become a more and more attractive place to live. Leeds City Council recently revealed a report suggesting the number of homes in Leeds city centre could nearly double in the coming years, in order to keep up with demand

The Times named the Quays and South Bank’s Candle House as the best addresses to live in. Once a downtrodden industrial part of the city, the South Bank area in Leeds is seeing significant regeneration with thousands of new homes and jobs opportunities coming to this prime location.
