Homes England\u00a0<\/span><\/b>is<\/span><\/b>\u00a0giving a\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a39.9<\/span><\/b>m<\/span><\/b>\u00a0grant to Liverpool City Council to help provide up to 1,500 homes at the Festival Gardens in Liverpool.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Liverpool<\/span><\/a>\u00a0City Council has had plans to develop Festival Gardens<\/span>, an iconic location in South Liverpool<\/span>. However, a lack of funding has caused crucial remediation works to be unable to take place.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>W<\/span>ith the nearly<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a3<\/span>10m grant, w<\/span>ork on\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>he site is expected to start in the spring, and the first homes\u00a0<\/span>are expected to<\/span>\u00a0be available by 2022.<\/span>\u00a0The site will include owner-occupied homes and privately rented apartments.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/span><\/b>\u00a0seeing growth and regeneration<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Between this project, plans for a<\/span>\u00a0new<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Everton stadium<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>a new\u00a0<\/span>cruise liner terminal<\/span><\/a>, and<\/span>\u00a0additions to the city\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>waterside<\/span><\/a>, Liverpool<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>has numerous exciting development projects and is seeing\u00a0<\/span>a\u00a0<\/span>theme of\u00a0<\/span>rege<\/span>neration<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0The development at\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Festival Gardens might not only bring needed family homes but also a leisure element might be incorporated into the site, turning the area into a first<\/span>–<\/span>class visitor and cultural destination.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joe Anderson, the mayor of Liverpool, commented:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe welcome this essential financial injection from Homes England. Festival Gardens is a much-loved\u00a0<\/span>waterfront<\/span>\u00a0location and people have very fond memories of spending time there. We are fully aware of the potential the Festival Gardens has and its transformation will be a game-changer for this city\u2019s economy in terms of new homes, construction jobs and growth.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Homes England making<\/span><\/b>\u00a0homes happen<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The funding injection\u00a0<\/span>for the Festival Gardens\u00a0<\/span>comes from the\u00a0<\/span>g<\/span>overnment\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>\u00a3450m Local Authority Accelerated Construction programme.\u00a0<\/span>The boost to Liverpool\u2019s housing market is a prime example of what\u00a0<\/span>Homes England<\/span><\/a>, a government organisation assigned to speeding up house building,\u00a0<\/span>can do to help combat the nation\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>chronic\u00a0<\/span>housing shortage<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0Additionally, this brings the\u00a0<\/span>g<\/span>overnment another step closer to reaching its goal of\u00a0<\/span>300,000 new homes<\/span><\/a>\u00a0being built per year by the mid-2020s<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
