A new 76 home in West London will showcase a new landing area for drone deliveries in June 2019, designed by architect\u00a0<\/span><\/b>Farrells.<\/span><\/i><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The developer\u00a0<\/span>Almacantar\u00a0<\/span><\/i>is aiming to invest in technology to create the first residential housing site in London to be able to handle deliveries by drone<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Skyports<\/span><\/i>,<\/span><\/i>\u00a0a drone infrastructure company, will be responsible for coordinating the deliveries<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kathrin\u00a0Hersel,\u00a0<\/span>P<\/span>roperties director at\u00a0<\/span>Almacantar\u00a0<\/span><\/i>said:<\/span>\u00a0\u201c<\/span>Partnering with\u00a0Skyports, with the intention of Lyons Place being London’s first residential development to accept commercial drone deliveries, makes perfect sense<\/span>\u00a0as w<\/span>e’re always looking for ways to future-proof our developments<\/span>.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Residents will take delivery direct from drones<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Skyports\u00a0<\/span><\/i>has agreed to lease the space\u00a0<\/span>from the developer\u00a0<\/span>for the platform<\/span>\u00a0known as a<\/span>\u00a0vertiport and will operate and maintain the landing area<\/span>, which\u00a0<\/span>will be located in the centre of the roof\u00a0<\/span>of the main housing\u00a0<\/span>block<\/span>\u00a0at Lyons Place<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ade\u00a0Awoye, Senior architect at\u00a0<\/span>Farrells<\/span><\/i>\u00a0said:\u00a0<\/span>“<\/span>Residents a<\/span>t Lyons Place<\/span>\u00a0will be able to order anything online to then be<\/span>\u00a0delivered by a drone landing on the roof<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The concierge is then notified of the parcels arrival and collects the item to be hand delivered to the<\/span>\u00a0resident\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0door<\/span>.<\/span>”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Drone ports will become a standard requirement for residential developments<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The architect,\u00a0<\/span>Farrells<\/span><\/i>\u00a0believes that drone ports will become a future requirement for urban residential developments to meet the desire from city dwellers to be connected with the city.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
