This little increase results in annual house price growth of 2.9%.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe annual pace of house price growth remained broadly stable in July at 2.9%, only a touch lower than the 3.1% recorded in June,\u201d commented Robert Gardner, Nationwide&#8217;s chief economist. \u201cOn the surface, this appears at odds with recent signs of cooling in the housing market. The number of housing transactions dipped to their lowest level for eight months in June, while in the same month the number of mortgages approved for house purchase moderated to a nine-month low of c.65,000.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, he continued on to say that a lack of homes on the market appears to be providing support, with annual house price growth remaining only just outside the 3-6% range, that has been prevailing for most of the past two years.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"mAKxCngLl8\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/08\/11\/foreign-investors-show-confidence-uk-property\/\">Foreign investors show confidence in UK property<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Foreign investors show confidence in UK property&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/08\/11\/foreign-investors-show-confidence-uk-property\/embed\/#?secret=xgIptXoj2X#?secret=mAKxCngLl8\" data-secret=\"mAKxCngLl8\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, housing market developments will depend on wider economic performance,\u201d he added. \u201cThe UK economy slowed noticeably in the first half of the year and there has been little to suggest a significant departure from recent trends in the quarters ahead.
