This number compares to only 18% of social renters.<\/p>\n<p>As the main barrier to owning their own home, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/09\/half-student-renters-spending-100-week-rent\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">most renters<\/a> have named affordability issues since the report of 2008\/2009.<\/p>\n<p><strong>However, a small amount (10%) explained that they were living in rental accommodation because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/06\/08\/private-rented-sector-tenants-happier\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">they preferred it that way<\/a>. They stated the flexibility that comes with it as one of the main factors to choosing renting over owning.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An overwhelming 97% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/01\/uk-homeowners-thinking-remortgaging\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">homeowners plan on staying in their current home<\/a> for the foreseeable future. Simultaneously 75% of social renters expected to remain in the sector for a long period whilst only 31% of private renters expressed similar plans.<\/p>\n<p>Another research that was put together by Halifax and published earlier this year also revealed that more than 50% of PRS tenants are unable to afford to buy a home.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"o4Az1qjHOf\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/07\/20\/landlords-know-tenants-really-want\/\">Landlords, do you know what your tenants really want?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Landlords, do you know what your tenants really want?&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/07\/20\/landlords-know-tenants-really-want\/embed\/#?secret=xx2NGSsKBY#?secret=o4Az1qjHOf\" data-secret=\"o4Az1qjHOf\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Whilst those tenants felt like they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/07\/tenants-dilemma-steep-rent-rises-no-property-ladder-sight\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">priced out of the market and couldn\u2019t afford to put down a deposit<\/a> for a property, 60% also said they were content with their current living situation.<\/p>\n<p>This shows that, although Britons are still looking to buy in the long-run, the rental sector is becoming a bigger part of life, and the buy-to-let sector along with it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of tenants in England\u2019s Private Rented Sector intending to buy their own home hasn\u2019t changed in two years, a new report revealed.
