{"id":2362,"date":"2017-02-21T07:00:53","date_gmt":"2017-02-21T07:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=2362"},"modified":"2017-02-21T07:00:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-21T07:00:53","slug":"uk-homeowners-renovation-decoration-ups-price-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-hk\/2017\/02\/21\/uk-homeowners-renovation-decoration-ups-price-home\/","title":{"rendered":"UK homeowners: renovation and decoration ups price of home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>An overwhelming majority of UK homeowners think their house value has increased since they bought it by an average of \u00a333,125, a research has found.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The study by Co-Op Insurance found that 91% thought the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/01\/11\/largest-rise-uk-house-prices-since-march\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">price of their home has gone up<\/a>, with renovations and decorations accounting for \u00a314,900 increase in a property\u2019s value.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"2JkpqMiZ92\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/13\/property-investment-qa-5-spot-coming-property-hotspot\/\">Property Investment Q&#038;A #5: How to Spot an Up and Coming Property Hotspot?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Property Investment Q&#038;A #5: How to Spot an Up and Coming Property Hotspot?&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/13\/property-investment-qa-5-spot-coming-property-hotspot\/embed\/#?secret=BOZ96nKYrl#?secret=2JkpqMiZ92\" data-secret=\"2JkpqMiZ92\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it revealed that 31% of homeowners bought their property with their eye set on how much money they could make from their investment.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 62% of homeowners solely relied on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/12\/05\/property-values-set-zero-price-change-2017\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">increase in house prices in general<\/a> to make a profit with their property.<\/p>\n<p>Another key deciding factor was location, as 34% chose to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/01\/31\/meet-property-hotspots-2017-manchester-birmingham-edinburgh\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">buy in an already desirable area<\/a> and another 32% did some more research before buying in an area dubbed as \u201cup and coming\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Making changes to the property was a common theme as 76% stated they had made changes to their property since moving in. And 60% of them believe the renovations they\u2019ve made led to an increase in value.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/02\/london-drop-started-prime-sales-fall\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">London\u2019s homeowners<\/a> have seen the biggest average rise in profits thanks to renovations and decorative work with a total of 94% believing their property has increased in value by \u00a321,499.<\/p>\n<p>For homeowners who are looking to sell and want to up their property game a bit in the lead-up, kitchens are a great place to start renovations as 56% believe this is the room that really sells a house. This is followed by the living room as the second most important room and bathroom in third spot.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur study shows that homeowners believe by investing in d\u00e9cor and bigger renovation works they are adding value to their homes for future years.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cKitchens have long been lauded as the heart of the home and our study continues to solidify this, with over half of homeowners believing that this is the room of the house that could make, or break, a sale,\u201d she pointed out.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"9r1ZcN0alZ\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/20\/uk-property-markets-current-state-overview\/\">The UK property market\u2019s current state: An overview<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;The UK property market\u2019s current state: An overview&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/20\/uk-property-markets-current-state-overview\/embed\/#?secret=81hfN8ez5N#?secret=9r1ZcN0alZ\" data-secret=\"9r1ZcN0alZ\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhilst they are a big draw for prospective buyers, they can be expensive, therefore it\u2019s important to revisit your home insurance policy to ensure you have the right level of cover in place during the building works, to protect you from additional risks during the work.
