{"id":1086,"date":"2016-09-16T11:54:56","date_gmt":"2016-09-16T10:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=1086"},"modified":"2016-09-16T11:54:56","modified_gmt":"2016-09-16T10:54:56","slug":"greater-manchester-host-world-expo-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-hk\/2016\/09\/16\/greater-manchester-host-world-expo-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Greater Manchester to host World Expo in 2025?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Greater Manchester is currently bidding to become the host city region for the trade convention World Expo in 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The World Expo takes place every 5 years. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/15\/british-stopped-investing-dubai-property\/\">Dubai has been chosen<\/a> to host the event in 2020, leaving 2025 still up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>The Government originally announced its plans to host to convention last year and has now a couple of weeks left (until 31 October) to put the country forward.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)<\/a> said that Ashton Moss in Tameside has presented itself as a great location to host the global event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A great event<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The expo is a huge event that stays in its chosen location for six months and showcases the best in technology, manufacturing and culture from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, the exhibition was hosted in Milan and attracted representatives from 145 countries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-manchester-37235547\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to the BBC<\/a>, GMCA said it was \u201cencouraging the government to seize the opportunity for a global shop window to demonstrate that the UK is open for business and committed to international trade following the vote to leave the European Union.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"PUYHatPygE\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/13\/manchester-property-prices-continue-grow-august\/\">Manchester property prices continue to grow in August<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Manchester property prices continue to grow in August&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/13\/manchester-property-prices-continue-grow-august\/embed\/#?secret=JvBJESFG8A#?secret=PUYHatPygE\" data-secret=\"PUYHatPygE\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to local politics, the sentiment is a mixture of positivity and excitement. And it\u2019s easy to see why: Billions of pounds of investment followed by 20 million visitors and a legacy that could last for years and years afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>With Chancellor George Osborne, a major influencer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/07\/05\/northern-powerhouse-stays-track\/\">the Northern Powerhouse project<\/a>, not being in office anymore, locals are seeing this as a test for the new prime minister to proof her commitment to England\u2019s North.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Richard Leese<\/p>\n<p>Sir Richard Leese, GMCA lead member of economic strategy, said the continuing commitment to the Northern Powerhouse concept was an important message the government needs to send.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;It is ambitious. But as the London Olympics, and the Manchester Commonwealth Games before them showed, tremendous economic and social benefits can flow from bold and concerted backing for a big idea.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Kieran Quinn, GMCA lead member for investment strategy and finance and leader of Tameside Council, said it &#8220;made sense&#8221; to have the event at the Tameside location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We believe Greater Manchester, and Tameside, can make a compelling case to stage this hugely significant event and it can be a powerful ingredient in the drive to rebalance the nation&#8217;s economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greater Manchester is currently bidding to become the host city region for the trade convention World Expo in 2025.
