The GoodHome Report, undertaken by The Happiness Research Institute and Kingfisher, looked at the impact of homes on people\u2019s overall happiness.\u00a0The report\u00a0included\u00a0a\u00a0survey of\u00a013,489\u00a0residents across 10 European countries, in addition to\u00a078 interviews. From September 2018 to February 2019, more\u00a0than 2,000 UK residents were surveyed and 15 were interviewed in-depth.<\/p>\n
The survey\u00a0results\u00a0revealed\u00a0people\u2019s\u00a0homes\u00a0are\u00a0one of the main factors in\u00a0overall happiness<\/a>, beating out income and\u00a0employment<\/a>. Additionally, the\u00a0report\u00a0showed size, location, and home ownership have less of an impact on happiness than expected.<\/p>\n Location is often harped on as the most important aspect of a home.\u00a0However,\u00a0regardless of living in the city or countryside,\u00a0having access to some kind of\u00a0green space<\/a>\u00a0is universally important.\u00a0Whether it\u2019s a private garden or communal space,\u00a0there are many psychological benefits\u00a0that come from\u00a0living with access to green space.<\/p>\n Despite urban expansion in UK cities, there are still numerous green pockets even in some of the nation\u2019s most densely populated cities.
