Since the UK voted to leave the EU\u00a0in June 2016, there has been marked growth in\u00a0overseas buyers<\/a>\u00a0showing interest in the UK property market.\u00a0Overseas buyers and investors are looking to\u00a0capitalise\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0weak pound and softening property prices\u00a0amidst the continued\u00a0uncertainty\u00a0surrounding\u00a0Brexit<\/a>.<\/p>\n Neil Tillott, business director of Placebuzz, commented: \u201cForeign buyers view the impact of Brexit on house prices and the value of sterling as a rare opportunity to buy into the market at favourable prices, with a long-term view.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Placebuzz,\u00a0the most searches from overseas buyers are coming from those in the US. During the first quarter of 2019, nearly 50,000 searches were made by\u00a0US\u00a0investors<\/a>\u00a0and home hunters.<\/p>\n Buyers from Spain, Ireland, Australia, and South Africa followed the US, showing there\u2019s a global interest in the UK property market.<\/p>\n \u201cWith sterling currently worth around 12% less against the dollar than pre-referendum, buying UK property is a very shrewd move for foreign investors looking to secure a bargain,\u201d Neil Tillott\u00a0stated.<\/p>\n On the Placebuzz portal, overseas\u00a0buyers and investors\u00a0are searching for properties in\u00a0Birmingham<\/a>\u00a0and Glasgow the most, revealing\u00a0many\u00a0are putting a focus on\u00a0buying property in\u00a0regional cities<\/a>.<\/p>\n London is the third most\u00a0sought-after\u00a0location and Manchester follows\u00a0behind the capital.\u00a0Overseas flights to and from Manchester have boosted interest in the city\u2019s property market.
