\u00a0<\/span>Next 30 years will create 11,500 new homes at Thamesmead<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Peabody has announced it has\u00a0chosen\u00a0Lendlease<\/i><\/b>\u00a0in a corporate joint venture\u00a0to regenerate\u00a0the Thamesmead\u00a0100 hectare site\u00a0to create a mixed use development in South London.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the coming 30 years, this\u00a0project is planned to deliver 11,500 new homes at a cost of an estimated \u00a38b.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Plans\u00a0include construction along 2.5km of undeveloped\u00a0river frontage, canals, lakes and a shopping centre nearby.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The new waterfront district will be based around a planned new Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mixed use scheme gets green light with Ealing Council<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, a substantial development agreement has been signed between\u00a0Ealing Council<\/i><\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Galliford<\/i><\/b>\u00a0Try Partnerships <\/i><\/b>v<\/i>alued at around \u00a3275m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Local community will benefit from affordable homes to buy and rent and a new library\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The proposed mixed use development at Perceval House will promise to provide 470 new homes, including 50 per cent affordable homes;\u00a0over half offered through the social rent and London living rent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Included in the plans are a new library and customer services centre, along with mixed use development to include retail premises, commercial and residential buildings and designated parking places.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New civic centre free for council taxpayers<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The community will benefit from the development project but local council taxpayers will not pay for\u00a0a\u00a0new civic centre building which is also planned as the revenue achieved through the sale of existing residential units and land will offset the cost of building a new council headquarters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The local community and major stakeholders will now be involved in consultation over the proposed plans for Perceval House with\u00a0Ealing Council<\/i><\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Galliford<\/i><\/b>\u00a0Try Partnerships<\/i><\/b>\u00a0and the intention is to submit a\u00a0planning application later this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of\u00a0Ealing Council<\/i><\/b>, said: \u201cOur offices are in a key town centre location, but at the moment we aren\u2019t making the best use of this important site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese plans will deliver much-needed genuinely\u202faffordable homes<\/a>\u202fin our town centre, supporting our pledge of 2,500 new homes. At no cost to the council, it will also provide us with a brand-new customer service centre and library, and a smaller, more modern and cheaper to maintain and run office block.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
