Now, new housing minister, Alok Sharma, needs to make sure things are actually going to change.<\/p>\n<p>What the tragic Grenfell Tower fire really reminds us of is, as PropertyWire\u2019s editor, Ray Clancy, put it:\u201d[That] housing is about people and their homes. Yet, it seems to have become a political and financial issue and real people have been forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>So most would probably agree with the statement that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/19\/theresa-mays-conservative-manifesto-property-review\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">housing needs to become a priority<\/a> again. Now more so than ever.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The issue, however, goes deeper. Housing minister Sharma has got a lot on his hands at the moment. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/07\/britains-housing-white-paper-revealed-explained\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Housing White Paper<\/a> made some big statements, and they need to be seen through. Demand still continues to outstrip supply which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/06\/15\/asking-prices-across-uk-especially-north\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">keeps pushing prices up<\/a>. All of these factors interact. And if you then add building and construction on top of it, another two industries that need some work, the issue becomes even bigger.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s political landscape, however, is greatly shaped by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/31\/brexit-big-change-little-impact-countrys-property-market\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Brexit negotiations<\/a>.
