Now they\u2019ve gone back down to 71%.<\/p>\n<p>In number, this drop translates into 253,166 people who have given up on home ownership over the last twelve months.<\/p>\n<p>As the main reasons for the decrease, the survey names <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/18\/5-surprising-factors-impact-house-prices\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">house prices<\/a>, saving for a deposit and the availability of homes to buy. Among home buying hopefuls, 86% say house prices are the biggest challenge they are facing, 85% say saving for a deposit is a serious issue and 80% worry about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/february-house-price-index-supply-remains-close-record-lows\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">supply of homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The research furthermore reveals that those concerns are rising across almost all regions of the country, with Londoners being the most concerned.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"8LnBVmtITV\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/buy-london-first-time-buyers\/\">Where to buy in London: First time buyers<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Where to buy in London: First time buyers&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/buy-london-first-time-buyers\/embed\/#?secret=Qh0ktgq55N#?secret=8LnBVmtITV\" data-secret=\"8LnBVmtITV\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>About 87% of respondents in London have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/16\/londons-house-price-dilemma-fall-continues\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">concerns regarding the house prices<\/a> and 81% worrying about supply.<\/p>\n<p>Paula Higgins, chief executive of the HomeOwners Alliance, explained:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese latest findings show that the housing crisis is deepening across the UK. This in turn is impacting on people\u2019s aspirations to get on the property ladder. While we are used to stories about people not being able to buy a home <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/20\/home-buyers-pay-7-6-times-earnings-house\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">until they are 40<\/a>, the story has taken a turn for the worse with people increasingly giving up altogether on the dream of home ownership.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cPeople are feeling less optimistic about their chances of buying their first property.
