This was mainly due to investors trying to secure a property before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/04\/26\/estate-agents-urge-government-candidates-protect-property-market-stamp-duty-take-hits-new-high\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">new stamp duty regulations kicked in<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The ones struggling the most are high-end properties. Purely ranked by price, London\u2019s eleven most expensive boroughs only saw an annual increase of 0.3%, whilst the cheaper areas had an annual growth of 4%.<\/p>\n<p>The Council of Mortgage Lenders explained the slowdown in house price growth, which was most noticeable in London but could be felt across the country, with the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/february-house-price-index-supply-remains-close-record-lows\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">choking housing supply<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According the the CML, the market is currently driven by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/buy-london-first-time-buyers\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">first-time buyers<\/a> rather than investors.
