{"id":2678,"date":"2017-04-27T16:30:17","date_gmt":"2017-04-27T15:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=2678"},"modified":"2023-09-28T16:45:23","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T15:45:23","slug":"britains-generation-rent-feels-let-high-street-agents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/04\/27\/britains-generation-rent-feels-let-high-street-agents\/","title":{"rendered":"Britain&#8217;s Generation Rent feels let down by high street agents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The UK\u2019s generation of tenants feels the country\u2019s property market is cruel and unfair, a new research by estate agents LetBritain has revealed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The study asked 2,000 adults living in the UK how they felt about the local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/04\/07\/will-air-quality-soon-become-factor-property-marketing\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">property market<\/a> and uncovered a deep-reaching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/11\/21\/government-ban-gazumping-take-stress-homebuying\/\">negative sentiment<\/a> from tenants towards the rental system currently provided.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"GEyIxULfXj\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/10\/uks-rental-market-letting-vulnerable\/\">Is the UK\u2019s rental market letting down those most vulnerable?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Is the UK\u2019s rental market letting down those most vulnerable?&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/10\/uks-rental-market-letting-vulnerable\/embed\/#?secret=b4EUyr5ijH#?secret=GEyIxULfXj\" data-secret=\"GEyIxULfXj\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Across the UK, there are currently 4.3 million rented households. And 40% of renters expressed that they felt like the process of securing a rental property through a high street agent is ruthless and unethical. One of the main practices named was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/01\/swindle-land-research-reveals-amount-gazumping-uk-property-market\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">gazumping other possible tenants with immoral methods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, 37% of renters said that they felt like they were being misled by their estate agent when it came to the amount of competition they would be facing. For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/12\/06\/london-home-almost-one-fifth-uks-generation-rent\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">tenants in London<\/a>, this number increased to 61% of all respondents.<\/p>\n<p>A further 38% of tenants believe their estate agents actively advertised non-existing properties to them online that weren\u2019t actually available on the market.<\/p>\n<p>Almost one third of respondents also called the waiting list and unfair system as estate agents appeared to prioritise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/18\/good-tenant-bad-tenant-infographic\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">preferred tenants<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"SkFxU80rT8\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/08\/renting-property-uk-become-first-choice\/\">Why renting property in the UK should become a first choice<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Why renting property in the UK should become a first choice&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/08\/renting-property-uk-become-first-choice\/embed\/#?secret=AI0dCNEpvF#?secret=SkFxU80rT8\" data-secret=\"SkFxU80rT8\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In total, 37% of renters in the UK think that the current system doesn\u2019t really do the job, especially considering the speed and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/02\/uk-regional-rental-prices-north-west-leading-way-yield-demand\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">increasing demand of the sector<\/a>. This number even increases to 50% when only looking at tenants in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Founder and CEO of LetBritain, Fareed Nabir, commented:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cToday\u2019s research delivers some revealing insights into the opinions of generation rent. It is obvious that renters up and down the country feel let down by their estate agent \u2013 from luring them in with properties that aren\u2019t available to misleading potential tenants about the competition they face, the country\u2019s rental population is suffering at the hands of questionable practices.
