And take notes.<\/p>\n<p>Alison Platt, chief executive at estate agent Countrywide, told City AM that &#8220;past trends show a clear correlation between general elections and the level of transactions in the property market.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She also pointed out that there is a difference between usual General Elections and this one: The long lead up. An average lead up of about six months prior to other elections will be condensed down to six weeks in this case.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"YrP7Y3Jbpb\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/21\/when-brexit-became-reality-british-pound-and-property-after-march-29\/\">When Brexit became reality: British pound and property after March 29<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;When Brexit became reality: British pound and property after March 29&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/21\/when-brexit-became-reality-british-pound-and-property-after-march-29\/embed\/#?secret=rPz988QkKy#?secret=YrP7Y3Jbpb\" data-secret=\"YrP7Y3Jbpb\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This shorter time frame means any consumer hesitance will have a lower impact on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/31\/house-price-index-figures-overstated\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">overall transactions<\/a>, Platt concludes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Once the vote is over, things are more than likely to pick up again. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The highest levels of investment can usually be seen in the first three months after a new Government has been elected.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Heaton, founder of property search agency Heaton &amp; Partners, agreed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI see the decision to hold a General Election in June as a positive for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/20\/uk-property-markets-current-state-overview\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">the property market<\/a>, particularly as the snap nature of the announcement, means that there has been no long build up with buyers and sellers wanting to hold off.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UK\u2019s Prime Minister, Theresa May, has announced that she\u2019s seeking a snap general election on June 8 as the country is in need of certainty and stability.
