It\u2019s probably not who you think it is."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>One company owns almost as much land in the capital as Transport of London and the Queen together, new figures by Datscha have revealed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The study was put together for trade bible Property Week and showed that the Canary Wharf Group, a company jointly owned by Qatari Diar and Brookfield, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/03\/far-prices-london-fall\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">London\u2019s biggest landowner<\/a> with exactly 21,452,796 sq ft of property.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"BGNZknyEbx\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/01\/london-development-hotspots-revealed\/\">London Development Hotspots revealed<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;London Development Hotspots revealed&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/01\/london-development-hotspots-revealed\/embed\/#?secret=jEvPT0zk3b#?secret=BGNZknyEbx\" data-secret=\"BGNZknyEbx\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In second place was the City of London, or the Mayor and Community and Citizens of the City of London to go by the official name, with a total of 17.4m sq ft of space.<\/p>\n<p><strong>These were followed by Transport of London, Aviva and BNP Paribas. All of them &#8211; surprisingly &#8211; own more of London than the Queen, who can call 7.3m of the capital\u2019s sq ft her own.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The highest-ranked non-property company was Tesco securing spot 19 with 3.4m sq ft of property.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar, which is about the same size as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/property-investment-england-focus-yorkshire-humber\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Yorkshire<\/a>, has built up its impressive UK property portfolio in less than ten years. In 2015, it amassed a huge area when it and Brookfield decided to buy Canary Wharf owner Songbird Estates for \u00a32.6bn, as City AM reports.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"56feHR3eXD\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/01\/16\/chinese-inquiries-manchester-property-50\/\">Chinese inquiries into Manchester property up by over 50%<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Chinese inquiries into Manchester property up by over 50%&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/01\/16\/chinese-inquiries-manchester-property-50\/embed\/#?secret=52KJP5BEeg#?secret=56feHR3eXD\" data-secret=\"56feHR3eXD\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Soon, however, the Qataris may have to make space for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/28\/brexits-weakening-pound-foreign-property-investors-dream\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">another big, foreign player<\/a>. Chinese companies have already shown huge interest in the capital\u2019s property and also made their first big moves.
