{"id":18728,"date":"2018-07-10T15:30:52","date_gmt":"2018-07-10T14:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=18728"},"modified":"2018-07-10T15:30:52","modified_gmt":"2018-07-10T14:30:52","slug":"major-northern-investment-as-yorkshire-town-gets-67m-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/07\/10\/major-northern-investment-as-yorkshire-town-gets-67m-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Major northern investment as Yorkshire town gets \u00a367m funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Greater Grimsby has secured a major investment valued at \u00a367m to drive forward exciting regeneration plans for the area<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The groundbreaking investment,\u00a0under a Stage 1 Town Deal,\u00a0will see around 10,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/07\/09\/smart-construction-initiative-new-builds-go-up-50-faster\/\">new homes<\/a> built by 2032 and more than 8,800 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/06\/25\/finding-work-now-top-reason-for-moving-house-especially-for-millennials\/\">job opportunities<\/a> created in the area.<\/p>\n<p>On 5\u00a0July at Grimsby\u2019s Marine Operating Centre, The Greater Grimsby Project Board, led by David Ross and the North East Lincolnshire Council, gathered together local MPs, Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and leaders from both the private and public sector.<\/p>\n<p>The major investment announced by business minister Lord Henley and Jake Berry MP, local growth minister, will lead Greater Grimsby closer to the shared vision the board holds for the future.<\/p>\n<h4>Largest UK offshore wind operations base<\/h4>\n<p>The move reflects the government\u2019s commitment to promoting local partnerships and forging strong links with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/06\/13\/people-of-the-uk-support-building-of-more-affordable-housing-locally\/\">local communities<\/a> to deliver transport improvements, enhance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/03\/19\/why-nimby-homeowners-dont-want-new-builds-popping-up-near-them\/\">infrastructure<\/a> and attract more local investment into areas to boost construction and job opportunities \u2013 350 of which will be at Grimsby\u2019s Royal Dock, where local employer \u00d8rsted is constructing the biggest UK operations base for offshore wind.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Wright, managing director for \u00d8rsted UK, said: \u201cGrimsby is fast becoming a world-leading hub for renewable energy and this Town Deal can only help the area continue to grow. I\u2019m delighted to see this partnership signed as it will help unlock further <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/11\/22\/northern-powerhouse-huge-investment-what-about-yorkshire\/\">investment<\/a>, drive regeneration and deliver jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>A wide ranging regeneration scheme&#8230;<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a32m more to the area from the government\u2019s local growth fund to support major road improvements to Moody Lane and Woad Lane that connect to key South Humber Industrial Investment Programme Enterprise Zone sites<\/li>\n<li>\u00a365m of investment already being provided by North East Lincolnshire council (\u00a335m) and government (\u00a330m) to support the regeneration plans for Greater Grimsby<\/li>\n<li>government expertise and support including through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/06\/15\/homes-england-will-begin-to-deliver-new-homes-faster-to-ease-shortage\/\">Homes England<\/a> and Historic England\u2019s Heritage Action Zone initiative to help develop the housing and town centre with a focus on heritage-led regeneration and the development of the South Humber Industrial Investment Programme sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jake Berry said: &#8220;This once-in-a-generation Town Deal signals a new dawn for Greater Grimsby with millions of pounds in government funding supporting the delivery of thousands of new jobs, significant local investment in regeneration, and nearly 10,000 new homes by 2032.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The new Town Deal delivers on the government\u2019s promise to give communities the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/05\/15\/transport-for-the-north-will-unleash-new-opportunities-outside-london\/\">tools and resources<\/a> they need to kick-start growth and regeneration while presenting new and exciting economic opportunities for the local community.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/04\/25\/uk-house-price-growth-being-held-up-by-northern-powerhouse\/\">Northern Powerhouse<\/a> fights for more devolution to and investment in the north of England, there is also huge regeneration taking place in the nearby <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/06\/15\/good-jobs-low-living-costs-and-high-yields-this-city-is-one-to-beat\/\">city of Leeds<\/a>, which has seen a surge of growth in recent months that is set to continue with future investment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Greater Grimsby has secured a major investment valued at \u00a367m to drive forward exciting regeneration plans for the area The groundbreaking investment,\u00a0under a Stage 1 Town Deal,\u00a0will see around 10,000 new homes built by 2032 and more than 8,800 new job opportunities created in the area.
