Property prices make it reality!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A total of 3.7 million British workers travel for two hours or more every day to make their way to the office, recently released figures have revealed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The figures have been collated by the Office for National Statistics and were published by the Trades Union Congress.<\/p>\n<p>On average, the daily commute lasted 57.1 minutes in 2015, the statistics revealed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"lsIly25i6Y\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/21\/uk-house-price-growth-continues-strong-trend\/\">UK House Price Growth Continues Strong Trend<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;UK House Price Growth Continues Strong Trend&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/21\/uk-house-price-growth-continues-strong-trend\/embed\/#?secret=W3udE3s3XM#?secret=lsIly25i6Y\" data-secret=\"lsIly25i6Y\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Frances O\u2019Grady of the Trades Union Congress explained the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/07\/uk-houses-now-six-times-earn\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">slowdown in wage growth<\/a> combined with high house prices and rental costs were the main reasons for the longer commute.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Employers cannot turn a blind eye to this problem. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2018\/03\/09\/house-prices-commuter-stations-rise-people-move-afield\/\">Long commutes<\/a> eat into our family time and can be bad for our working lives too.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Six years ago, in 2010, 2.8 million people took a journey time of two hours or more on them to get to work. Today, this number has increased quite significantly to 3.7 million, the ONS found.<\/p>\n<p>According to the BBC, the results of the ONS survey were based on responses from 90,000 workers, not taking those into account who are working from home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The results revealed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>Men and those who work in finance or insurance are the most likely to make long journeys<\/ul>\n<ul>People who work in London have the longest journeys &#8211; 931,000 people spend at least two hours getting to the office and back<\/ul>\n<ul>Women are increasingly joining the commuter club &#8211; around 1.45 million female workers travel for two hours a day, a 35% increase since 2010<\/ul>\n<ul>The number of male commuters with journeys over two hours also rose 29% to 2.3 million<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"ziYo1GDuZW\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/24\/large-drop-new-rental-properties-uk-research-reveals\/\">Large drop in new rental properties in UK, research reveals<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Large drop in new rental properties in UK, research reveals&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/24\/large-drop-new-rental-properties-uk-research-reveals\/embed\/#?secret=lHFBlQEPqZ#?secret=ziYo1GDuZW\" data-secret=\"ziYo1GDuZW\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The TUC explained that workers were now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/21\/number-affordable-homes-uk-continues-majestic-fall\/\">less than ever likely to be able to afford to live near their places of work<\/a>. Overall, the cost of renting a home in the UK grew faster than the cost of living in the year to September, following ONS figures.<\/p>\n<p>During the same time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/17\/property-prices-went-up-in-september-due-to-more-enquiries-and-fewer-listings\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">UK property prices<\/a> saw an increase of 8.4% annually up to August.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A total of 3.7 million British workers travel for two hours or more every day to make their way to the office, recently released figures have revealed.
