Out of this number, 56,100 properties fell under the new rule, adding 3% stamp duty and therefore bringing in extra duty worth \u00a3440 million.<\/p>\n<p>The number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/11\/20\/more-cornwall-ban-second-homes-cameron-buys-2m-holiday-pad\/\">additional homes<\/a> bought in the second quarter of the year, directly after the change and during a traditionally quieter period, was lower. After that, sales doubled during the third quarter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"3xR2XQYeUJ\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/06\/prime-property-prices-uk-show-positive-outlook\/\">Prime property prices in UK show positive outlook<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Prime property prices in UK show positive outlook&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/06\/prime-property-prices-uk-show-positive-outlook\/embed\/#?secret=uZZb1MD6Il#?secret=3xR2XQYeUJ\" data-secret=\"3xR2XQYeUJ\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Separate data from the Land Registry reveals that in England and Wales there were 95,300 residential and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/31\/uk-commercial-property-experiences-recovery-brexit-slump\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">commercial property<\/a> sales submitted for registration in September.<\/p>\n<p>Out of that, 70,237 were freehold and 11,497 were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/04\/60000-build-rent-units-uk\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">newly built<\/a> while 552 properties over \u00a31 million were sold of which 313 were in London.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the most bang for bucks, the most expensive residential sale in September was a semi-detached property in London\u2019s borough Kensington and Chelsea for \u00a310,915,000 whilst the cheapest was a flat in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/03\/top-10-property-investment-liverpool\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool<\/a> for \u00a312,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About 25% of properties bought in the UK in the third quarter of 2016 were a buy-to-let or second home purchase, figures recently released by the tax department revealed.
