The city aims to build 227,000 new homes and 200,000 new jobs &#8211; and all of that between now and 2035. To turn this idea into reality, Manchester also needs to upgrade its transport system in a rather significant way.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"xo0o83n6Pw\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/01\/former-chancellor-osborne-chair-northern-powerhouse-partnership\/\">Former Chancellor Osborne to chair the Northern Powerhouse Partnership<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Former Chancellor Osborne to chair the Northern Powerhouse Partnership&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/01\/former-chancellor-osborne-chair-northern-powerhouse-partnership\/embed\/#?secret=x4i97kDtMP#?secret=xo0o83n6Pw\" data-secret=\"xo0o83n6Pw\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), the ten councils that make up the Greater Manchester area, have put together the &lt; a href=&#8221;https:\/\/www.greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk\/info\/20018\/greater_manchester_spatial_framework&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221;&gt;Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, which will go before council leaders next week and outlines the scale of the area\u2019s ambitions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The initiative\u2019s plans include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new M62 junction at Irlam<\/li>\n<li>A new train station in Droylsden<\/li>\n<li>Upgrades to the M60 and M66<\/li>\n<li>Tram extensions at the airport and from Trafford to Salford<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The area\u2019s biggest sections of industrial development have been split up into four regions: a \u2018western gateway\u2019 around Port Salford, the Quays and Carrington in Trafford, an \u2018eastern gateway\u2019 around Ashton Moss, a \u2018northern gateway\u2019 around Bury, Oldham and Rochdale, and the \u2018airport gateway\u2019 in south Manchester.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"xTu8KdCL00\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/07\/manchester-growth-outstrips-central-london\/\">Manchester growth outstrips central London<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Manchester growth outstrips central London&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/07\/manchester-growth-outstrips-central-london\/embed\/#?secret=XvnH00dim7#?secret=xTu8KdCL00\" data-secret=\"xTu8KdCL00\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>All of these sections are already located close to motorways and train links, the initiative however admitted that more infrastructure needed to be built in order to make the plan work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Whether or not this ambitious plan is becoming reality or not still has to be decided. The detailed proposal for the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework will go to consultation on October 31 until December 23, before being reviewed and put out to consultation next summer.
