{"id":1375,"date":"2016-10-17T07:00:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-17T06:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=1375"},"modified":"2023-09-26T14:17:21","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T13:17:21","slug":"manchester-goes-for-gold-with-the-olympic-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/news\/manchester-goes-for-gold-with-the-olympic-parade\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester goes for Gold with the Olympic Parade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The \u201cWelcome Home\u201d parade for this year\u2019s GB Olympic heroes will be held today in Manchester.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After PM May announced in August that this year\u2019s national parade to celebrate Britain\u2019s Olympians and Paralympians will be held in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/04\/manchester-rental-property-shortage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester, the Northern capital<\/a> has work hard to prepare the perfect welcome these athletes more than deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Manchester City Council deputy leader, Sue Murphy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/when-is-manchester-olympic-parade-11779520\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told MEN<\/a> that \u201cwhenever we\u2019ve had parades in the past, Manchester has been out in force.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s not just about the parade &#8211; we need to continue to inspire people and think about how we can work with different sporting bodies to make sure we continue this success.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"91qjV5sai5\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/01\/former-chancellor-osborne-chair-northern-powerhouse-partnership\/\">Former Chancellor Osborne to chair the Northern Powerhouse Partnership<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Former Chancellor Osborne to chair the Northern Powerhouse Partnership&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/01\/former-chancellor-osborne-chair-northern-powerhouse-partnership\/embed\/#?secret=febhcY7vDL#?secret=91qjV5sai5\" data-secret=\"91qjV5sai5\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The parade might be the perfect opportunity to inspire a fair few people with estimates saying the parade could attract up to 200,000 fans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reasons why Manchester is the chosen location for this year\u2019s Olympic and Paralympic Parade are easily found, as the city has more than once been dubbed \u201cManchester medal factory\u201d during the games.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"7aBgCjmtcT\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/16\/greater-manchester-host-world-expo-2025\/\">Greater Manchester to host World Expo in 2025?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Greater Manchester to host World Expo in 2025?&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/16\/greater-manchester-host-world-expo-2025\/embed\/#?secret=w3x3FtXJ8i#?secret=7aBgCjmtcT\" data-secret=\"7aBgCjmtcT\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>In fact, it turns out that the majority of British medalists are actually from up North, with 23 of the medals achieved by athletes born and\/or trained in Manchester.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mark Hardwick explained the term saying: \u201cGreat that Manchester are going to hold this, after all it\u2019s the home of the Medal Factory aka Velodrome and the city holding a successful Commonwealth Games in 2002 where it all started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not only has the Velodrome produced a good number of standout athletes, it has however also regenerated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/09\/23\/manchesters-best-buy-let-postcodes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Manchester<\/a>. Holding the parade in Manchester is just another way of the Government to showcase that investment in the North is well worth it.<\/p>\n<p>Christine Pritchard added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The north has produced some brilliant athletes. They should be paraded in the north, where else?
