Housing Minister\u00a0<\/span>and MP\u00a0<\/span>Kit Malthouse\u00a0<\/span>has announced that the Government will be investing \u00a3142 million across England with the intention of building new homes and improving and upgrading roads and utility services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Woking and Truro will receive millions\u00a0<\/span><\/b>for new housing and roads<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Both the South East and the South West are to benefit from this seasonal windfall<\/span>, having been assessed under a competitive funding allocation process<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this latest release of funding,\u00a0<\/span>Surrey<\/span>\u00a0county council<\/span>\u2019s commuter t<\/span>own of Woking will received \u00a395 million worth of government finance to create a viable infrastructure to support\u00a0<\/span>the purchase of suitable land to build\u00a0<\/span>4,500 new homes<\/span>\u00a0and alleviate local congestion<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This will include widening Woking\u2019s Victoria\u00a0<\/span>Arch\u00a0<\/span>bridge<\/span>, improving the surrounding road network, land acquisition and installing mains services and providing\u00a0<\/span>utilities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Truro in Cornwall will receive \u00a347 million<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to improve road links<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The creation of a new northern access road<\/span>\u00a0linking the employment centre in the east and the Royal Cornwall hospital with sites in the west from the A390, will allow for the\u00a0<\/span>construction of 4,000 new homes<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kit Malthouse said: \u201cThis<\/span>\u00a0new funding is part of the\u00a0<\/span>government\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>drive to hit its target of building 300,000 new homes a year in England by the mid 2020<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s.<\/span>\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>We are\u00a0<\/span>pushing<\/span>\u00a0to create homes, opportunities and thriving communities. We need to keep upping our game and build more, better, faster, if we are to meet our ambition.
