The National\u00a0Association of Estate Agents\u00a0(NAEA)\u00a0has released April\u2019s property sales\u00a0data\u00a0that shows\u00a0the number of\u00a0first time buyer\u00a0sales agreed by estate agents reached their highest level since October 2018.<\/p>\n
In April,\u00a0the percentage of sales to first time buyers reached 27%, up from 26% in March.<\/p>\n
NAEA\u2019s data records that\u00a0the number of monthly\u00a0sales\u00a0agreed\u00a0in member branches rose in April to eight per branch compared to seven in March.<\/p>\n
Housing stock has risen year on year \u2013 in April 2018 only 33 properties were available to buy.\u00a0 This April, branches have reported 35 available properties, down slightly from 37 in March.<\/p>\n
In April, the number of applicants registering at each estate agent was lower than in March, dipping by 10% to 265 house hunters from 296.\u00a0 Previously, the lowest number of buyers was 237 in April 2008.\u00a0 Since last April, there has been a 21% decrease in the average number of home buyers registering per member branch.<\/p>\n
Mark Hayward, NAEA chief executive\u00a0said: \u201c\u2018Despite a fall in housing supply and demand, it\u00a0is encouraging to see an increase, for the first time this year, in the number of sales going through.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Mr Hayward explained: \u201cEven though buyers and sellers remain uncertain given the current climate,\u00a0figures indicate that\u00a0many are continuing to move forward with their transactions and sales are still happening at the rate we would expect to see at this time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Negotiation\u00a0gets a sale\u00a0moving<\/h3>\n
