{"id":2889,"date":"2017-06-13T12:30:03","date_gmt":"2017-06-13T11:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=2889"},"modified":"2017-06-13T12:30:03","modified_gmt":"2017-06-13T11:30:03","slug":"house-prices-england-wales-reach-new-peak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-au\/2017\/06\/13\/house-prices-england-wales-reach-new-peak\/","title":{"rendered":"House prices in England and Wales reach new peak"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After a rather slow start to the year, house prices in England and Wales have reached a new high in May, averaging at \u00a3303,200.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the data collected by Your Move, this shows a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/06\/01\/uk-house-prices-election-countdown\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">rise in house prices<\/a> of 0.3% month-on-month and 4.8% year-on-year.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"Li6EqW4zAh\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/30\/uk-house-prices-waitrose-effect\/\">UK house prices: The Waitrose effect<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;UK house prices: The Waitrose effect&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/30\/uk-house-prices-waitrose-effect\/embed\/#?secret=AzGgjo6t7y#?secret=Li6EqW4zAh\" data-secret=\"Li6EqW4zAh\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Market activity remained relatively strong with sales only dropping slightly compared to the seasonal average whilst still showing an increase of 6% from April.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the report also showed a significant slowdown in sales in London, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/16\/property-investment-england-focus-south-east\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">South East<\/a> and East of England, only being counteracted by an impressive performance by the country\u2019s North.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver Blake, managing director at Your Move and Reeds Rains, explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe market remains resilient and there\u2019s encouraging activity in the North, but we need to urgently address the serious blockages in house building holding back labour mobility and economic competitiveness in too many areas of the country.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sales increased by 13% in Wales, 10% in the North East, 7% in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/09\/property-investment-england-focus-yorkshire-humber\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Yorkshire and the Humber<\/a>, 6% in the West Midlands and 4% in the East Midlands in the three months to April when compared to the same period during 2015.<\/p>\n<p>In London and the South East, however, sales fell by 19% and 7% respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Prices across London continue their rise, if so at a lower pace at 2.7% in the year to April 2017.
