{"id":2856,"date":"2017-06-06T13:00:33","date_gmt":"2017-06-06T12:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=2856"},"modified":"2017-06-06T13:00:33","modified_gmt":"2017-06-06T12:00:33","slug":"city-house-price-growth-uk-city-made-biggest-jump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-au\/2017\/06\/06\/city-house-price-growth-uk-city-made-biggest-jump\/","title":{"rendered":"City house price growth: Which UK city made the biggest jump?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Whilst city house price growth across the UK has experienced a slight drop in recent times, eleven of the country\u2019s biggest cities have a faster growth rate than 12 months ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The overall <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/27\/manchester-squeezes-past-london-strongest-annual-house-price-growth\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">city house price growth<\/a> year-on-year has slowed to 5.3%, down from 8.7% in April 2016, the latest index by Hometrack has shown.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"zylmoZDkKC\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/04\/06\/manchester-ahead-london-ranking-top-global-cities-house-price-growth\/\">Manchester ahead of London in ranking for top global cities for house price growth<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Manchester ahead of London in ranking for top global cities for house price growth&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/04\/06\/manchester-ahead-london-ranking-top-global-cities-house-price-growth\/embed\/#?secret=wxWF2BzU8N#?secret=zylmoZDkKC\" data-secret=\"zylmoZDkKC\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The reason for a slowdown in house price growth is largely a small price increase of only 0.1% during the second half of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In the last three months to April 2017, house prices have increased by 3.2% on average across the UK, with only Manchester (4%), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/15\/new-tram-stops-boost-house-prices-cities-like-manchester-birmingham\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> (3.8%) and Edinburgh (3.7%) experiencing above average growth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So where are the big winners?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest winners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/05\/02\/cities-englands-north-leading-britains-urban-house-price-growth\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">remains Manchester<\/a> with the fastest growth rate at 8.4%, an increase from the 6.3% recorded one year ago. The report continues:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe ratio of sales to new supply in Manchester indicates relatively tight housing supply which points to continued upward pressure on house prices.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Cities across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/03\/02\/property-investment-england-focus-west-midlands\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">country\u2019s Midlands<\/a> are registering robust growth, including Leicester at 7.7%, Birmingham also at 7.7% and Nottingham at 7.2%.
