{"id":2332,"date":"2017-02-14T17:00:44","date_gmt":"2017-02-14T17:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buyassociation.co.uk\/?p=2332"},"modified":"2017-02-14T17:00:44","modified_gmt":"2017-02-14T17:00:44","slug":"almost-half-uk-tenants-unhappy-landlord","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-au\/2017\/02\/14\/almost-half-uk-tenants-unhappy-landlord\/","title":{"rendered":"Almost half of UK tenants unhappy with their landlord"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Some of the major frustrations tenants in the private rental sector face are poor communication and things taking too long, a new survey has revealed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Property technology company Engage has recently compiled a study that found 49% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/07\/tenants-dilemma-steep-rent-rises-no-property-ladder-sight\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">tenants experience these problems with their landlords<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"mSSt38x7UE\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/18\/good-tenant-bad-tenant-infographic\/\">The good tenant and the bad tenant [Infographic]<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;The good tenant and the bad tenant [Infographic]&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/11\/18\/good-tenant-bad-tenant-infographic\/embed\/#?secret=3Q6DbSUjNb#?secret=mSSt38x7UE\" data-secret=\"mSSt38x7UE\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The level of frustration even saw an increase in younger tenants (those between the ages of 18 to 24), where 76% expressed the same issues.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, 20% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2016\/10\/21\/3-things-renters-do-to-save\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">tenants revealed<\/a> that renting in comparison to owning makes them feel disconnected from their neighbours and community. This number saw an increase to a quarter among younger renters (aged 18 to 24) and a decrease to 15% among older tenants (those aged 55 and over).<\/p>\n<p>Another big complaint for many (13%) was the frustration that came with the process of applying for a property, which can often take up to six weeks and can be very stressful.<\/p>\n<p>Those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/02\/london-drop-started-prime-sales-fall\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">living in London<\/a> will probably experience the biggest frustration when it comes to make contact with their landlord as their four times less likely to succeed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"5vT6MafxNH\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/07\/generation-rent-government-may-ready-help\/\">Generation Rent, the Government may be ready to help you out!<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Generation Rent, the Government may be ready to help you out!&#8221; &#8212; BuyAssociation Group\" src=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/02\/07\/generation-rent-government-may-ready-help\/embed\/#?secret=CiPsxIbIsl#?secret=5vT6MafxNH\" data-secret=\"5vT6MafxNH\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Mitesh Patel is the managing director at Engage and explains the rise in frustration with renters understanding that they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buyassociationgroup.com\/en-gb\/2017\/01\/10\/generation-rent-number-homeowners-aged-25-halved\/\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">will stay in the private rental sector for longer<\/a> and therefore expecting a higher standard in return.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs an industry the rental sector is lagging behind probably every other industry in terms of customer service.
